The new Student Union, although not definitely lorated, will probably be built just off the King- Hall parking lot and behind Mary Hobbs Hall. This picture, with a superimposed outline of the Student Union, was taken looking north from the parking lot toward the Pre-Fabs. Mary Hobbs Hall is just out of the picture to the right. The area, of course, will be land scaped and some of the roads will be relocated. Budget To Be Voted Today This morning in Chapel, the Proposed Budget for 1955-56 will be submitted to the student body for discussion and approval. This budget is derived from the Student Activities Fee and pro vides the finances for the various campus organizations. This year's budget is a high for recent years, with a total of SII,OOO being ap propriated. College Presents T-V Program On Sunday, March 6, at G:00 p. m. the history and development of Guilford College is to be pres ented in an hour long program from station WUNC-TV (Channel 4) in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The program, given largely by faculty members and students of Guilford College, will include the history of the college and ex planations of the core curriculum, the development program, and the merger with the Evening College of Greensboro. GUILFORD COLLEGE, N. C., FRIDAY, MARCH 4, 1955 Commencement Speakers Announced Alexander C. Purdy, Hosmer Professor of New Testament at Hartford Theological Seminary and Dean of the Seminary, will give the Baccalaureate Sermon at Guilford College Sunday, May 29. Dr. Purdy, eminent teacher, au thor and lecturer, presented the first Ward Lecture here Novem ber 10, 1950, on the subject, "An Adequate Leadership for Friends Meetings." During his professor ship at Hartford Seminary he has been the counselor of approxi mately one hundred Friends pre paring for religious leadership. Elton Trueblood, presently Con sultant on Religious Affairs for the United States Bureau of In formation, will give the Com mencement Address, Monday, May 30. Dr. Trueblood was professor of philosophy and dean of men at Guilford College 1927 to 1930. For three years he was Executive Secretary of Baltimore Yearly Meeting. He has taught at Havcr ford College, Swarthmore College and at Harvard University, Since 1946 he has been professor of philosophy at Earlham College. BLOODMORILE WEDNESDAY, MARCH 9. 1955 10-3:30 Gym MSG Effects Dorm Repairs As a part of the Men's Student Government program, opinions of the men students were polled in an assembly of the men to deter mine some improvements which might be suggested to the Admin istration for implementation. These suggestions included re pair of the stairs in the mens' dormitories, improvement of wa ter and heating service, repair of campus roads, replacing dormi tory screens, etc. These suggestions were discus sed by the MSG and a letter was written to the Business Manager, requesting consideration of these matters. The stairs have been repaired in Cox Hall, and screens will be repaired and replaced soon. It. is doubtful if any action can be taken with regard to water and heating improvements immediate ly because of the extreme expense involved in improvements which might become obsolete by the ad dition of new buildings in the future. Greek Classic To Be Staged Tonight And Tomorrow The Revelers' Club will present its winter production tonight and tomorrow night in Memorial Hall at 8:30 p.m. Following its new policy of balanced entertainment, the Revelers have selected for their spring presentation, the Greek classic "Alcestis," written in 432 B.C. by Euripides. The noteworthy peculiarity of this classic is that it is a serious play with a happy ending. The Revelers are doing a modern translation, written especially for college groups by Dudley Fitts and Ro bert Fitzgerald.
